Gujarat Board’s new academic calendar declared, how much will get holiday?
A new academic calendar has been announced for the schools by canceling the previous educational calendar declared by the 6th day of Navratri. Earlier, 247 days of academic work had to be done, it would now be 244 days, public holiday has increased from 17 to 19, while domestic holidays have been reduced from 7 to 5.
According to the new academic calendar declared by the Board, 3 days of educational work has decreased during the year. There is no change in the date and the total holidays as per the new calendar. There was a demand for canceling the vacation as the examination was taking place during Navratri vacation. 400 schools opposed Navratri vacation in the area of chief minister Vijay Rupani. Controversy arose between Diwali vacation between Chief Minister Vijay Rupani and Education Minister Bhupendra Chaudasama.
Earlier, 116 days in the first session and 131 days of academic work in the second session. Instead, there will be 109 days in the first semester and 135 days of academic work in the second session. So instead of 247, the academic work of 244 days will now be done.
Navratri vacation will remain from 10th October to 17th October. There will be a 6-day vacation as two Sundays are coming. And Diwali vacation has been announced for 13 days from November 5 to 17.
Summer vacation has been kept for 35 days from 6th May to 9th June. Thus, with the three vacations, 56 days teachers and 70 lakh children will be discharged.
Also, 24 will get the holiday. There will also be 19 public holidays and 5 local holidays. Thus 80 out of 365 days of the year will be available to the teacher. 40 Sundays, total 130 leave and 40 Saturday half day, and 15 government holidays will be considered for 15 personal leave. Local holiday has been reduced to 5 by 5. There will be 17 public holidays in the previous calendar.
The first test will be started in schools beginning October 19. The second test will start from Ja28. Std Local examinations of 10 and 12 will start on February 15. Board exams will begin on March 7. The annual examination of the schools will be started on 8th April.
