Board officials said that notices have been issued to the teachers. "Teachers who made an error in the correction of SSC board exams will be fined Rs 50 for each mistake of one mark," said officials.

Board officials said that maximum errors were found in totaling of marks and in many cases teachers forgot to write marks on the main page. This led to students losing marks due to careless mistakes.
In many cases, students' marks increased by 20 and even 25 during re-checking due to mistakes in totaling.
"These are minor mistakes but can play a huge role in making or breaking the career of a student. There might be many students who do not opt for re-checking but may have been victimised due to such mistakes. It is our constant endeavour to ensure that fewer mistakes are made in checking of answer papers of board exams," board officials said.
Teachers, however, complained that they are given a paltry Rs 4-5 per answer sheet and if they are charged such a heavy sum for each mistake, they will end up earning nothing. "It is an exercise in futility," said a teacher.
