Results for the five-state assembly election will be announced today. The elections are being seen as a semi-final to next year's 2019 Lok Sabha election, during which the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress party will face off in a high-stakes battle.
The five states that went to the polls in this batch of elections include Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Telagana and Mizoram.

The India Today-Axis My India polls predicted a sweep for the Congress party in Rajasthan.
The Congress is also predicted to have an edge in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, both states that the BJP has ruled for 15 years.
